SIFCO APPLIED SURFACE CONCEPTS (UK) LIMITED is pleased to announce the release of two new selective plating solutions.

SIFCO are based in Bromsgrove in the West Midlands and are part of one of the largest global selective plating companies. They offer selective plating services either in house at their Bromsgrove works or on site at the customers’ premises.

The selective plating process brings many benefits such as:

• Reduced down time due to quicker plating techniques

• No need to strip down the machine in most cases

• Only the required area is plated selectively

• More environmentally friendly due to using less chemicals

• Quicker turnaround of plated parts

SIFCO are continually developing solutions to meet market needs and is pleased to announce the release of two new products.

The first is a new Nickel-Tungsten plating solution, Code 5711. SIFCO ASC’s Nickel-Tungsten (60/40) deposit is the perfect green alternative to chromium for repair and OEM applications that require exceptionally hard plating. The deposit was developed for aerospace, automotive, oil & gas and any other industry where the hardness of the surface is critical.

This new hexavalent chromium free deposit is one of the hardest chromium alternatives available today and it meets the hydrogen embrittlement characteristics of ASTM F519 without a relief bake!

Secondly is their new Tin-Zinc plating solution, Code 4019. SIFCO ASC’s Tin-Zinc (80/20) deposit is a green alternative to cadmium for repair and OEM applications. This environmentally friendly solution is easy to use, provides excellent corrosion protection, good lubricity, and requires no hydrogen embrittlement relief bake after plating! The deposit was developed for aerospace and any other industry where corrosion protection is critical.

SIFCO ASC’s Tin-Zinc meets the requirements of AMS 2451/10.

• Passes ASTM F519 HE test with Type 1a.1 bars and Type 2a O-rings with no post plating bake.

• Passes 96 hours of salt spray per ASTM B117. And when used in conjunction with a Trivalent Chromium Conversion Coating, the deposit will withstand 500 hours of salt spray with basis metal corrosion.
